Kent was a newspaper editor who spent all day writing at a desk. Kent enjoyed his work, but needed more income. One day he received an opportunity publication in the mail. Kent was intrigued by the opportunities. Kent responded to a few ads and soon got involved with a business opportunity. Kent said, “I thought I was going to have to talk to people one-on-one to convince them to join this business.” But his new mentor started teaching him about postcards. Kent was relieved. Kent set a goal to mail 500 postcards a week. Kent said, “It wasn’t very long until people started responding to my postcards. I guess they were also looking for a way to make more money.” Soon, Kent was teaching several people how they could mail postcards to build their business. Once they started mailing their postcards, everything just exploded. Kent’s income was increasing every month. Kent said, My new hobby is mailing postcards. I just love doing it every day!”

Success in MLM is in the Numbers. It’s the classic rule of traditional sales. Working the numbers is the ONLY strategy that virtually guarantees to make you rich. The essence of this strategy is contained in a question: “Can you contact 30 people a day?” A highly successful district manager for a major insurance company once confessed that he didn’t have any natural sales talent. This man just calls on a lot of people: If you go up to 30 people and sort of mumble -- “You wouldn’t want to buy any life insurance, would you?”  With this man violating every rule in the sales book, two or three of those people will probably say, “Well, now that you mention it, yes I was looking for a policy.” The lesson here is that the presentation is not what is most important. Consistently playing the numbers game is what’s most important to your success.

Contact 30 people a day with postcards to grow your business.

If you contact 30 potential distributors a day, six days a week -- that’s about 720 people a month. The bad news is: most of those people will blow you off or tell you they don’t have the time to get rich. The good news is: A few people will sign up. Out of these few people, one or two will actually be a Diamond. A diamond is a go-getter who will end up recruiting a lot of people in the coming months. When you contact another 720 people in the following month, you’ll turn up some MORE Diamond People. In a year, you will have recruited about 20 to 60 Diamond People. These 20 to 60 Diamond People will become obsessed with this business. These people refuse to rest until they’re millionaires, and they hold the key to your wealth. The GOAL is to recruit as many Diamond People as possible during your first year or two. The METHOD you use to catch Diamond People is mailing 30 or more postcards every day.

Mailing postcards is simply a hunting strategy for capturing Diamond People.

BelieveIf at any time you take your focus off of catching diamond people, but instead change your focus to counting and keeping track of all the postcards you have mailed -- then YOU WILL FAIL at playing this numbers game. Never forget that your real goal is to find and get Diamond people to join you and make your business grow. This little army of 400 to 1000 people will make your business explode with growth during the 2nd and 3rd years...which radically causes your income to increase. After 2 or 3 years, your business can grow to become thousands of people from all across America...all of them working to create giant lifetime residual income for you. Success in MLM is not an accident. The difference between people who produce great results and those who do not is -- those who succeed follow consistent logical patterns of taking action -- such as mailing 30 postcards a day. The goal is to work consistently at playing the numbers game for one year to two years -- then gradually slack off and enjoy the fruits of an ever-growing residual income.

What if the Jack-Rabbit and the Turtle mailed postcards?

I have many people who want to start this business as a Jack-Rabbit. They want to mail 5,000 to 30,000 postcards all at once -- and really FAST! What I tell them is this. It’s okay to start out as a Jack-Rabbit in this business. If you want to mail a lot of postcards in the beginning -- that’s fine. But understand this clearly. You cannot sustain mailing out a whole lot of postcards. Your budget won’t permit it and you’ll burn yourself out quickly with too much work. Plus -- you’ll turn into a Scorekeeper and start keeping track of all the postcards you’ve mailed. REMEMBER THESE THREE BUSINESS BUILDING COMMANDMENTS: 1) Your GOAL is to recruit Diamond People. 2) Your TASK is to Mail Postcards everyday. 3) You WORK consistently for at least one year. Never forget that your real goal is to find and get Diamond People to join you and make your business grow. Mailing postcards is simply a hunting method for capturing Diamond People (just like a hook and bait is used to catch fish). If at any time you take your focus off of catching Diamond people, you will start to fail in this business.

Stop counting the number of postcards you have mailed out.

If you focus on counting and keeping track of all the postcards you have mailed - then you will fail. To win this Numbers Game you must be a Turtle. That means mailing a few postcards everyday. If you want to consolidate your mailings and mail once a week, that is fine. But you must mail (spend time working your business) every single week -- NOT working once every two weeks or once every month. I LITERALLY MEAN YOU MUST WORK YOUR BUSINESS EVERY SINGLE DAY, OR AT LEAST ON A WEEKLY BASIS. The Turtle always WINS the race. The Jack-Rabbit loses. My most important task is to teach you how to play the numbers game by being a Turtle. A Turtle understands that this is a long, slow marathon race. A Jack-Rabbit has unrealistic goals of finishing a long race quickly. The Jack-Rabbit burns out his energy and resources quickly, and then complains that he can’t continue with the race. The Turtle’s understanding of how to win this race is set in stone in his mind. Every day -- the Turtle says to himself,  “Do a little bit each day and the race is won, eventually and surely.” This is a vehicle for creating Giant Lifetime Income for you and your family. This is NOT a vehicle to generate fast money so you can pay your immediate monthly expenses. Working a job pays immediate monthly expenses. Working slowly to build this network marketing business pays a Giant Lifetime Residual Income in the very near future. Get this straight with your thinking. You must be a Turtle and work consistently for at least one year to win the race.
